Origin
Bodegas Borsao is located in the Campo de Borja – which they refer to as the “empire of the Garnacha“ – southeast of Rioja. Grapes are harvested from the foothills of the Moncayo mountain; at 600-700 metres above sea level, warm days are tempered by cool nights, which aids the ripening process and preserves acidity in the grape respectively. The Garnacha thrives in the extreme climate and represents 70% of production.
Producer
The winery was established as a co-operative in 1959. In 2001 it joined with two other progressive, co-operative, cellars in the Campo de Borja region to become the Bodegas Borsao that we know today. Campo de Borja is considered the ‘Empire of Garnacha’ and Borsao are experts in crafting ripe and appealing wines from the variety.
